Thanksgiving Part 1

It was nice to have a few days of rest. The previous weekend we cleaned the garage and got all of the Christmas displays up. The first Thanksgiving feast was held at my mother-in-law's house on Thanksgiving day. We never know quite what to expect. This year, we feared that my niece, Tater, would go into labor in the middle of dinner. She was in the E.R. twice last week and has had regular contractions. Thankfully, she made it through the whole dinner without any excitement. She took off to go to two more festivities...so she is not in the grandkid pictures.

Searching

I think this is the kind of place I need to work. I know I have visited stores that have crazy hours...but not this crazy! I expected it to be signed by Billy Joe Bob! :-)

Smile really BIG

Tdawg is getting braces. Last night's appointment was the xray, impressions and spacers appointment. No doubt now that he has a big mouth. LOL! The spacers are apparently painful. They recommend Tylenol. I asked about Aleve and they said no because it is an anti-inflammatory! So apparently they want you to be uncomfortable? Well, it is only eight months: the actual braces go on next week and come off in August.

S.O. Unified Bowling State Tourney

Friday was the Special Olympic Unified Bowling State Tournament. We had to get on the bus early early (!) 5:45a. Ugh. That is really early for me. I know it does not seem that early. However, when I have to get up early, I end up waking up several times during the night thinking that I have overslept. I woke up and could not get back to sleep at 3:30a!! But I since I despise driving in Bham, it was well worth it to let someone else drive. It also allowed me to knit all the way. It is so hard to knit and drive...no I haven't tried it...I was just kidding. We got home at 5p so it was a long long day.

The unified tournament team is made up of two pairs of participants. The pairs have one special and one abled bowler and the participants are usually related some way. There were 60 plus teams from all over the state bowling on Friday. Buddy and I have been bowling with L and his son, C every Sunday for a couple of months. We have a lot of fun and never take it too seriously. C has had a tough year, he was out several weeks with the flu. I was just glad that he felt well enough to participate.

C and Buddy bowled their average. L and I bowled better than our average. I was hoping for a spectacular game. It didn't happen. But we bowled well enough to win our division! Buddy and C were so happy to get their gold medal! The win could make us eligible to go to Nationals in Reno.

Just for Today

Outside my window... the sun is shining on the golden maple leaves.

I am thinking ... about Christmas

I am thankful for... the brave men and women in harms way at this moment

I am wearing... royal blue sweater with black windowpane pants and black leather jacket, black boots and a polka dot scarf and a premier necklace

I am remembering... my Dad – wishing we could put the estate stuff to bed

I am hearing ... co-workers working on details for the Thanksgiving dinner we are having tomorrow.

I am going... to get ready for making backpacks for the rescue mission kids.

I am reading... Grace for the Moment by Max Lucado

From the learning rooms ... you may think you understand a person's situtation, but if you are not in their shoes...you really just don't know.

I am hoping... that today will be a great day.

On my mind ... Special Olympic Unified Bowling in B'ham on Friday

Pondering these words…Proverbs 17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

From the kitchen... the yummy banana bread a co-worker brought this morning.

Around the house... it is slowly getting less cluttered

One of my favorite things…going to the driving range

From my photo memories… He can make me smile!

All Things Considered

All things considered, it was a pretty crappy week. It was all I could do not to point my car towards I-65 south to the beach. This is all I wanted to see...

Instead, I went to the driving range and hit 100 golf balls just as hard as I could. Rather good therapy, I must admit. Probly a good thing that I didn't take off, my car ended up in the shop this week. Ugh. More ching spent on non-fun items.

Photo Friday

This one is for my sister since she loves the TMNT...she can even name all of them!

Trunk or Treat

Hardly anybody goes door to door anymore. The churches sponsor trunk or treat. My buddy took her church's trunk or treat just a bit too literally! I accused her of voluntarily living in her car just to avoid all of the testosterone in her house. I may join her...ha ha ha.

Snow in Alabama...almost

In Alabama, this is about as close as we get to snow. The fields of cotton are so pretty.

Once it is picked, it is messy. But the ginning process will take out the seeds and dead leaves.

Halloween 2009

On Halloween, Buddy and I had the best time at Tate Farms. The have a big bin of corn that you can play in like a sand box. One of the workers said that they tried soybeans but they would get into the kids ears!

The weather was pretty cool and it was still quite muddy but we still had fun.

The corn cob train was definitely the best part!

Buddy liked petting the rabbits. He was not as fond of the goats, pigs and llama. He told the pigs “oooh… too messy!”.
