Name Change?

I have not blogged recently. I guess I only like to blog when I am cheerful. And lately, I have been thinking about changing my name (or at least blog name) to Miss Cranky-Pants. I have just been in a funk! It could be due to do with lack of sleep. Or occasional pain. Or an impending birthday. Or maybe I just need a change of scenery...dare I say: a vacation?!

All things considered...I'd like to be here...

...don't worry, I'll be back to my old self before long.

The Law of The Garbage Truck

A co-worker sent this to me and I thought it was worth passing along. Kudos to whomever wrote it...
Law of the Garbage Truck
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets.
So ... Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a blessed, garbage-free day!

If you don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, march down there and turn it on yourself!

RIP Queenie

We had to let Queenie go last week. It has been so much harder than anyone anticipated. Cletus took her to the doc and was thinking a shot would take care of it. Sadly, what the doc could do would be difficult for Q and may not have helped. We just could not make Q suffer just because we were not ready to say good-bye! So we made the selfless decision...and it was devastating. Everyone tells me to buy another dog. A buddy of mine put it best: you can buy another a dog but you can not replace a friend.

Football

Finally the heat wave has broken and it is time for some football...
Happy to say that we started off this season with a win! We had the worst record in the state last year. It was so bad that they mentioned us on ESPN! We are hoping for a lot better season. Tdawg is #79 and plays Left Tackle on the Offensive Line.

Fall Frenzy

Our family has entered the fall frenzy. The calendar looks chaotic with JV Football on Monday; Miracle League Baseball on Tuesday; Varsity Football on Friday; Auburn Football on Saturday; Practice every day (even Labor Day!). And therapy, which is thankfully down to just two days per week.

Actually it is fun to watch the kids play:

Of course, we would not have it any other way: Blessed is the life that enjoys the journey! Because don't you know it won't be long before the kids are grown and we are planning our life around our favorite tv show (American Pickers). Oh wait, we already do! Actually, we record it and look forward to watching it whenever we get the chance. It is pretty bad that we are already acting like an old married couple!
