Sixteen Again!

Just got the notification that plans are in the works for my high school reunion. Yes, hard to believe that next year will be my ten year reunion. Ok, more like the third anniversary of my ten year reunion. Yikes!

How is it that this one little email can cause a panic attack. After all of these years, those pesky high school insecurities are resurfacing! I am a grown woman with a college education, a career, a 22 year marriage and two teenagers. And suddenly I'm 16 again, feeling like a goofy geek. This cannot be happening to me...

Here We Go Again

Here we go again...the all too familiar sight of Tdawg laying on a gurney. He got his hand smashed at football practice. It was quite swollen and he could not move three of his fingers. It was after 6p when he got out of practice with his hand wrapped in ice. I was not sure if it was broken, but I did not want to take a chance. I found an Urgent Care center that stays open until 8pm.

He looks right at home with the remote, watching Sports Center on ESPN. That sure beats hanging out in the ER waiting room!

Looked more like the hand got stepped on...

Good news: No broken bones. Bad news: still same old T'dawg!

Have I mentioned lately how much I love football? Hmmm, right now, not so much...

Catch A Special Thrill

For the second year in a row, Cletus and Buddy participated in the C.A.S.T. (Catch a Special Thrill) event. Pro and semi-pro fisherman come to Guntersville Lake with their boats. They are paired up with a special participant and spend the day fishing. Buddy had a great time and caught all of these fish by himself!

Pioneer Woman

When Cletus and I were dating, he made the comment that I would make a terrible pioneer. I was livid, afterall, I was a girl scout for years! (I am pretty sure he just said it to get me riled up. Well, it worked!) Today we were watching a show on the History Channel: America the Story of Us. This episode was about the early pioneers and the challenges they faced. Namely the Donner Party. Ok, maybe I would have not made the best pioneer...but I certainly could have held my own!

This really is Cletus, Me and Buddy. I was trying to get the solemn look. I started thinking about hundreds of miles with these two and then seeing the Rockies. Oh crap! Ha ha ha!

Shoe Therapy

These are all the same pair of shoes...

I am not a shoe person, but I found some shoes that I love. They are called onesoles. You purchase the base of the shoe. The base of the shoes come in travelers (heels), flats and wedges (shown). And then you buy toppers that snap on to totally change the look of the shoe. There are lots of different topper...check them out at onesoles.com

Weather or not

If you don't like the weather here...just wait a few days. Thursday it was a hot and muggy 90+ degrees. Today (Monday) it is a damp cold 58 degrees. Everyone is freezing and no one knows whether to put away their winter clothes. My poor sister in Winter-sota sent me a message that they were expecting slushy winter accumulation. Have we always had such odd weahter: yes!

Mother's Day

I miss Mom every day...and even more on Mother's Day.
She sure loved Honey and Peter. She even had their portrait painted.

Mom and Sue came up to Alaska when I was there. We took a charter ride up to Mt. Denali (aka Mt. McKinley). On the way there, we stopped for a photo op with the mountain in the background. Poor Mom, she was cold the whole time.

And then we got on a boat and cruised through the inside pasage. It was breath taking beautiful!

She left too soon and missed too much. She sure would have loved the boys. And she would have loved to see the South.

The last Mother's day I remember, we went to the exhibition baseball game in Denver. The promoters were trying to decide if Denverites would support a pro baseball team. It was freezing cold, but it was nearly sold out. They eventually got the Rockies. I know Mom would have been one of the first season ticket holders!

I have found that you forget what people say and what people do...but you never forget how they make you feel! Love you Mom!!

Projects with the Grills

I am late in posting this because I did not want to spoil the surprise (I gave them as gifts). I met up at It's All Good's house for the Grills get-together. We had such a good time. It's All Good made a great mexican dinner and a fabulous dessert. You definitely check out the recipe she posted! Her hub cut 2 inch blocks. And the rest is photos printed on paper and scrapbooking paper. Really cool!

I am around the testosterone filled boys so much that I need an estrogen fix every once in awhile. And I love to sit and create while chatting and laughing heartily. It always makes me feel so connected.

The not so very ordinary Sharika taught us this neat idea at the last get together. Print a photo on tissue paper and then modge podge it to a canvas. My first attempt at her house wasn't nearly as good. It takes the right photo to make it look cool.
