Fugitives for Dessert?

One day, Cletus and I got a babysitter and we were out on a date. We decided that we wanted a Cheesequake blizzard from DQ. So we headed south on Pulaski Pike just past University Drive. Just ahead, under the interstate bridge, we saw all sorts of police cars. The cars in front of us abruptly turned into the neighborhood. We are not familiar with that area of town (not a very nice area of town!) So, we figured that there had been a bad accident. So, Cletus makes a u-turn and heads back the other way to find an alternate route.

We had barely got turned around and going before we were pulled over with the flashing blue lights. Cletus and I looked at each other: What is going on?!? Jokingly, I suggested that he gouge it and make a run for it. At this point in time we were going maybe 15 miles an hour. A slow speed White Ford Explorer chase just wasn’t as glamorous as the famed White Ford Bronco high speed chase.

So, of course, Cletus pulls over and gives the officer his license, registration and proof of insurance. The officer says ok and tells us to have a nice evening. So officer: What did we do?? Well, unknowingly, we avoided a checkpoint! So I’m sure that the officer thought that we had turned around because we had something to hide: suspended license, stolen car, arrest warrants, drugs, etc. We could have been fugitives from justice! But no, we just really wanted a blizzard before we had to go back and relieve the babysitter.
