Gephyrophobia

By lunchtime, we were crossing the Oakland Bay Bridge.

It is about 8.5 miles long and is one of the world’s longest suspension bridges. I have a gephyrophobia: the fear of crossing bridges...actually of plummeting off of a bridge into icy water. Of course, I could easily recall this picture of the 1989 earthquake...not a very comforting image.

Five lanes headed into San Fran on the top. And five lanes headed back on the bottom! I was glad that I was not driving, I was white knuckled both ways! Even on a Saturday afternoon, the traffic was horrible (by my standards). Ok not quite as bad as this internet photo. But not something I would want to cross everyday.
